Jumbo
A large-bodied acoustic guitar shape, generally wider and deeper than a dreadnought, with a rounder lower bout.
The extra air volume and larger top area give a big, balanced sound with strong low end and a wide dynamic range, which suits strumming, open tunings and players who need one instrument to cover a lot of ground. Because the body is larger, it can feel unwieldy to hold and is a poor choice for someone small or for long seated sessions. Jumbo and similar large shapes are often identified by their body dimensions rather than any structural difference.
Example: a jumbo in an open tuning with heavy strings produces the deep, ringing strum that fills a solo performance.
