Mix
The balance between two signals inside a device, normally the processed and the unprocessed version of the same sound.
On delay and reverb pedals the mix control decides how far behind the dry signal the effect sits, and a small change there alters the effect's usefulness more than a large change in any other control. On modulation pedals it decides whether the wobble is a subtle thickening or the whole sound. The equivalent terms are blend and wet versus dry, and the practical rule is that a mix setting that sounds right alone is usually too wet in a band.
Example: a delay that sounds lush played solo often needs its mix reduced by half once a full band is playing.
