Strap button
One of the two small posts, screwed into the body, from which the guitar hangs on a strap.
The placement is a design decision: forward of the heel keeps the guitar balanced, while a button behind the heel lets the instrument hang lower. Because the strap rests on the button by tension alone, this is the point where a guitar most often falls, particularly during a swing or when the instrument is lifted. Enlarging the button or adding a locking mechanism is the standard remedy.
Example: a player who lifts the guitar over their head should have a locking system at both strap buttons, not just the front one.
