Wiring harness
The complete set of pots, capacitors, switch and output jack assembled together inside a guitar, ready to drop in.
Buying a ready-made harness saves the fiddly work of soldering a loom from loose parts, and it lets a player choose a specific combination of pot values, taper, capacitors and switch type in one go. The harness is the part of an electric guitar that most often benefits from an upgrade, since production instruments frequently use the cheapest components available. Removing and refitting one is also a convenient opportunity to shield the cavity and clean up the ground connections.
Example: A player who replaces the whole control assembly in a guitar at once rather than one pot at a time has fitted a new wiring harness.
