Wraparound bridge

A single-piece bridge and tailpiece combination in which the strings pass over the bar and wrap around it before anchoring.

The wraparound design was the original fitting on the first solid-body electrics and remains popular for its direct, punchy response, because the string contacts a single rigid piece of metal. Early versions could not be intonated per string, so later examples add individually adjustable saddles or a slight step in the bar to compensate. Players often describe the wraparound sound as having more midrange and less hardware between the string and the wood.

Example: A vintage-style solid body whose strings pass over a single curved metal bar, with no separate tailpiece behind it, has a wraparound bridge.
