Locking strap
A strap whose ends clamp or clip positively to the strap buttons instead of resting on them, so the guitar cannot be dropped.
A standard strap sits on a button with nothing but tension holding it, and it comes off most often when the guitar is swung, lifted or set down carelessly. Locking straps solve this either with a locking clip, a screw-on retainer or a strap that needs a matching button. A cheaper fix is a rubber washer over the button, while a heavier solution replaces the button with a recessed socket.
Example: a player who moves around on stage and lifts the guitar overhead should not rely on a plain strap.
