Truss rod wrench

The specific tool that fits a guitar's truss rod nut, usually a hex key, a socket or a small spanner of an exact size.

Using the wrong size rounds off the nut, and a rounded nut can make the rod unadjustable, so matching the tool to the instrument matters more here than almost anywhere else on the guitar. The sizes are not standardised across makers, and some designs need a thin-walled socket because the nut sits in a narrow cavity. Some guitars include the correct wrench with the instrument.

Example: a truss rod nut that has been chewed by an ill-fitting key usually needs replacing before the neck can be adjusted again.
