Aux send
A control that takes a copy of a channel's signal and routes it to a bus or an external destination, independently of the main mix.
Auxiliary sends make shared effects possible: one reverb can be fed from every channel that needs it, at a different level from each, so a mix has a consistent space rather than six separate reverbs. On stage the same principle is used to build monitor mixes, with each send feeding a different foldback speaker. Because a send is a copy, changing it does not affect the main mix balance, which is what makes it such a flexible tool.
Example: Sending a small amount of guitar to a shared reverb from an aux send keeps the effect consistent with the rest of the mix.
