Guitar stand

A floor frame or folding tripod that supports a guitar upright and keeps it accessible between playing sessions.

A stand holds the instrument by its lower bout or neck and keeps it ready to pick up, which encourages practice but offers less protection than a case. The main risks are knocks from passing feet, sunlight and heat from radiators, and in some cases a reaction between the stand's foam padding and a nitrocellulose finish. Folding stands travel easily, while heavier tubular designs are more stable and less likely to be knocked over.

Example: A folding tripod with padded arms that holds a guitar upright on the floor is a guitar stand.
