Parametric EQ
An equaliser whose bands have adjustable frequency, gain and bandwidth, allowing precise shaping of a specific region.
Where a graphic equaliser offers fixed frequencies, a parametric gives continuous control, and the bandwidth control is what makes it powerful: a narrow band cuts a single resonant frequency without disturbing its neighbours, while a wide band gently tilts a whole range. Engineers use narrow cuts to remove problem frequencies and wide shapes to change the overall balance. The technique matters more than the tool, since a parametric can ruin a sound as easily as fix it.
Example: Cutting a single narrow frequency to remove a ringing resonance from an acoustic guitar uses a parametric EQ.
