Graphic EQ
An equaliser with a row of sliders on fixed frequencies, whose positions form a visible curve of the response.
The graphic equaliser is named for the way its sliders draw a picture of the frequency response, which makes it fast to adjust in live sound where a specific feedback frequency has to be pulled down quickly. Its fixed frequencies mean it cannot shape a region as precisely as a parametric, but the immediacy is worth more than the precision in many situations. Pedal versions of the design are common for shaping a guitar tone on stage.
Example: A pedal with six or ten vertical sliders that visibly trace the shape of the tone is a graphic EQ.
