Pedalboard cable

A short, usually right-angled patch cable used to connect one pedal's output to the next pedal's input.

Length and quality matter more than they appear to: every metre of unshielded or high-capacitance cable adds load to a passive pickup's signal, and in a chain of ten short cables the total capacitance can dull the top end noticeably. Plugs are usually flat right-angled to save space, and the cable should be thin and flexible enough to route tidily without strain on the jacks. Solderless kits trade convenience for occasional reliability problems.

Example: a board that sounds dull even with the pedals off often needs a buffer or better patch cables rather than new pedals.
