Strap lock
A strap button or fitting designed so the strap cannot come off while the guitar is being played.
A conventional strap rests on the button and can pop off during a vigorous performance, which for a heavy guitar means a fall onto the floor. Strap locks solve this in one of two ways: a larger mechanical button that the strap has to be threaded over, or a two-part fitting in which a clip on the strap snaps into a receiver on the guitar. Both add a little bulk to the instrument and require the strap to be modified, which is why some players simply keep a spare strap button set instead.
Example: A player who throws the guitar around the body during a show and never worries about the strap slipping is using strap locks.
