Fender 1000

The Fender 1000 is a pedal steel guitar built by Fender in the 1950s and 1960s, part of the company's output of instruments for country music alongside its electric guitars and basses. A pedal steel has no conventional frets: the player holds a steel bar over the strings and uses foot pedals and knee levers to change pitch while playing, producing the sliding, singing lines characteristic of the instrument. The Fender 1000 is a double-neck steel with the changer mechanism and cable-operated pedals of its era, and it is now collected as an example of Fender's non-guitar work.
