Fender Broadcaster
The Fender Broadcaster is the original name Fender used for the guitar that became the Telecaster. The guitar went on sale under the Broadcaster name at the end of 1950, but the Gretsch company already used the Broadkaster name for a drum kit, and Fender withdrew it, selling the instruments briefly without a model name on the headstock before settling on Telecaster in 1951. Broadcaster examples are therefore among the first production solid-body electric guitars and are extremely rare, and the name is used today for occasional reissues and tributes.
