Fender Contemporary Stratocaster Japan

The Fender Contemporary Stratocaster Japan is a Stratocaster made in Japan in the mid 1980s, in a period when Fender's Japanese production was used for more adventurous specifications than the American range. It carries a humbucking pickup alongside single coils, a distinctive locking vibrato system of the period, and a body and neck shaped in the manner of the era's superstrats rather than a classic Stratocaster, with a thinner neck and a flatter radius. Instruments of this kind are collected as examples of Fender's answer to the modern rock guitars of the time.
