Fender Elite Stratocaster
The Fender Elite Stratocaster was a version of the Stratocaster produced in the mid 1980s. It departed from the traditional instrument in several ways: a bridge assembly of a different design with fine tuners, pickups with an altered construction controlled by a push-button switching scheme, a somewhat different body contour and, in some versions, active tone circuitry. Fender intended it as a modernised Stratocaster for the requirements of the period, and although it was not produced for long, it is collected as an example of the company's attempts to update its classic designs.
