Fender Wide Range
The Fender Wide Range is a humbucking guitar pickup introduced by Fender in the early 1970s for the Telecaster Custom and Telecaster Deluxe, and designed by Seth Lover, the engineer who had earlier developed the humbucking pickup for Gibson. It is larger than a conventional humbucker and uses screw-headed pole pieces that double as the magnet structure, which gives it a clear, articulate and slightly bright voice with more definition than the darker humbuckers of the period. It has been reissued in original and modernised forms and is used in a number of Telecaster variants.
