Gibson L-5 CES
The Gibson L-5 CES is the electric version of the company's most famous archtop guitar, the CES standing for cutaway electric Spanish. It has a carved spruce top with maple back and sides, a single cutaway, two humbucking pickups mounted at the neck and bridge, and the elaborate binding, tailpiece and inlays of the L-5 design, together with volume and tone controls. The addition of a cutaway gives better access to the upper register for jazz soloing, and the instrument is one of the classic electric archtops, still produced by Gibson's Custom Shop.
