Kent (guitar)
Kent is a brand name used on budget electric guitars and basses sold in the United States from the 1960s. Instruments bearing the name were produced in Japanese factories and distributed through catalogue retailers and discount stores rather than music shops, and they were built to simple specifications with solid or hollow bodies, basic pickups and hardware, and a wide variety of shapes that borrowed from American designs. Guitars of this kind were common first instruments, and they are collected now as examples of the Japanese output of the period and of the catalogue guitar market.
