The Pechstein
The Pechstein is an electric guitar made of oak and known also as the Riesling guitar. It was conceived by the oenologist Kirk Bauer and produced with the support of Stephan Attmann of the Weingut von Winning in Deidesheim, the cooper Ralf Mattern, and the guitar maker Jens Ritter. Its body was built from Palatinate oak and then placed in a barrel made from the same wood, with a glass base, where some five hundred litres of Riesling from the Forster Pechstein vineyard were fermented with the guitar inside. The instrument was presented at the estate in October 2017 and played there in the course of the occasion.
