V-boost
V-boost is catalogued in this atlas under the description of a central throttle chamber, and it refers to the intake system fitted to a large-capacity Yamaha motorcycle, in which a valve between the two banks of carburettors opens at higher engine speeds to allow each cylinder to draw from all four of them. That arrangement increases the volume of air and fuel available when the engine is turning quickly, while keeping the mixture velocity high at low speeds for smooth running. The entry is a reminder that the atlas records products of the Yamaha corporation beyond its musical instruments; it is not a musical device.
