Yamaha A series
The Yamaha A series is a family of digital samplers Yamaha produced in the middle and late 1990s. The instruments record audio into memory, allow it to be edited and mapped across a keyboard, and play it back with filters, envelopes and effects, and they include a substantial set of internal sounds alongside the user's own recordings; the larger models also offer sequencing and the ability to write samples to removable media. Samplers of this kind were central to the production of electronic and popular music in that decade, before software took over much of the work.
