Yamaha DSP-1
The Yamaha DSP-1 is a digital signal processor introduced at the end of the 1980s, an effects unit that generates reverberation and other spatial treatments by computing them digitally rather than using springs, plates or tape. It offers a set of programs simulating halls, rooms, plates and other spaces, with parameters that can be adjusted through its front panel and recalled over MIDI, and it was used in studios and in live sound to add depth to instruments and voices. Units of this kind replaced mechanical reverb devices in most studios during that decade.
