Yamaha G series
The Yamaha G series is a family of guitar synthesizers the company produced in the 1980s. Instruments of this kind combine a guitar fitted with a divided pickup, which senses each string separately, with an external unit that converts the string signals into pitches and drives a tone generator, so that a guitarist can produce synthesizer sounds from the instrument itself with the articulation of the strings. Systems of this kind were developed by several makers during that decade as synthesizer technology became cheaper, and they were used for both imitation of other instruments and entirely new sounds.
