Yamaha RX series
The Yamaha RX series is the company's line of digital drum machines, produced from the middle of the 1980s. Instruments in the series generate their drum and percussion voices from stored samples under the control of a step sequencer, and they offer programmable patterns with individual level and tuning controls for each sound, along with velocity sensitivity so that the strength of a stroke is reflected in the playback. The larger models in the series added further editing, additional outputs and more memory, and the machines were used widely in the popular and electronic music of the period.
