YouTube Short Frank Olson Twins · 2025-11 — Demonstration of PolyTune strobe mode

Frank Olson Twins' clip shows the strobe mode in use, and Şerif Meral's comparison sets the PolyTune against a cheaper tuner.

Why it matters

TC Electronic announced it in June 2015 and it is still the headstock tuner other models are measured against. Polyphonic mode is accurate to plus or minus one cent, chromatic mode to plus or minus 0.5 cent, and strobe mode to plus or minus 0.02 cent. MonoPoly switching means you do not have to choose a mode before you start playing.

Note

The world's first polyphonic clip-on tuner, announced by TC Electronic in June 2015 and still the reference headstock tuner. Polyphonic mode is accurate to +/-1 cent, with chromatic and ultra-precise strobe modes for single-string work.

Specifications

  • polyphonic tuning (all strings at once)
  • MonoPoly auto mode switching
  • chromatic +/-0.5 cent, strobe +/-0.02 cent
  • adaptive LED matrix display
  • stainless steel clip

Before you buy

  • polyphonic mode reads open strings, so single notes need chromatic or strobe mode
  • the 0.02-cent strobe mode is the accurate one — use it for setups
  • stainless steel clip fits a headstock without a pedalboard slot
