Big Muff

The Big Muff is a fuzz pedal created by Electro-Harmonix in New York at the end of the 1960s, and for many players it defines the classic thick fuzz sound. Where earlier fuzz boxes spat and spluttered, the Big Muff stacks several transistor gain stages to produce a long, singing sustain with a distinctive mid-scooped, woolly tone shaped by its tone control. It has appeared in many versions and reissues since then, from the tall original enclosures through the compact models to the modern Pi series, and remains a mainstay of stoner, alternative and psychedelic rock.
