My Guitar Notes

Danelectro C

The Danelectro C was one of the first instruments built by Danelectro when the company began making electric guitars at the end of the 1940s and into the 1950s. Danelectro was founded in New Jersey by Nathan Daniel as an amplifier maker before the Second World War, and the firm moved into guitars when its range was taken up by the Sears catalogue house brand Silvertone. The early instruments used poplar frames faced with Masonite, lipstick-tube single-coil pickups and a simple bolt-on neck. The C set out the inexpensive, practical formula the company followed for the rest of its first era.
