Danelectro Longhorn

The Danelectro Longhorn is an electric guitar and bass design, first offered in the late 1950s and recognisable by the two long horns of its body outline, which give it an unmistakably space-age silhouette. Like the company's other instruments of the period it was built around a Masonite-covered frame with lipstick-tube pickups, which produces a thin, bright and very characterful tone. The bass version became particularly well known, and both shapes were reintroduced when the Danelectro name was revived in the 1990s. The design is now regarded as a classic of inexpensive, imaginative mid-century American guitar making.
