Edirol SD series
The Edirol SD series is a family of desktop sound modules and studio expansion units made by Edirol, the Roland brand created for computer music hardware. Instruments in the series generated tones for playback from a computer or a sequencer over MIDI, with the higher numbered models offering larger sound sets, digital outputs and multiple audio inputs for recording. Products of this kind were widely used in small project studios before software instruments took over the job, and they let a computer-based musician add hardware sounds without a full synth keyboard.
