My Guitar Notes

Epiphone Casino

The Epiphone Casino is a fully hollow, thinline electric guitar introduced in the early 1960s. Unlike the semi-hollow designs with a solid centre block, the Casino is completely hollow, which makes it light, resonant and prone to feedback at volume, and it carries two single-coil pickups with a compact, pointed outline. It is closely associated with the Beatles, who used Casinos extensively in the middle of the 1960s, and Epiphone has kept the model in its catalogue through many later revisions as one of its best known instruments.
