My Guitar Notes

Epiphone Wilshire

The Epiphone Wilshire is a solid-body electric guitar from Epiphone's early era. Introduced alongside the Coronet and Crestwood in the late 1950s and 1960s, it has a symmetrical double-cutaway slab body with two sharply cut horns, usually two pickups and a simple control layout, and in some versions a vibrato unit. It was a budget instrument aimed at students, and it has been reissued by Epiphone in later years. Players value these guitars for a lean, immediate plugged-in tone and a distinctive mid-century look.
