Fender ''51 Precision Bass

The Fender '51 Precision Bass is a reissue of the original Precision Bass as it was made in 1951, the first production electric bass guitar. The instrument has a single-coil pickup in the shape of the early design, a one-piece maple neck without a separate fretboard, a simple volume and tone control, and the slab body and single-ply pickguard of the original. Fender has issued the '51 Precision as a Japanese-made reissue and in other forms, letting players buy the earliest version of the bass rather than the later, more familiar split-coil instrument.
