Fender Musicmaster Bass
The Fender Musicmaster Bass is a short-scale electric bass Fender introduced in the early 1970s, built from the compact body and neck of the Musicmaster guitar rather than the larger Precision and Jazz shapes. It carries a single pickup with a simple volume and tone control and has a scale of about thirty inches, which makes the strings slacker and easier to press than on a full-scale bass. It was intended as a student instrument, and its particular feel and somewhat softer tone have since given it a following among players who like short-scale basses.
