Fender Telecaster Blacktop
The Fender Telecaster Blacktop is a special edition Telecaster sold in the 2010s. It keeps the familiar body and bridge of the model but replaces the usual single-coil pickups with a pair of humbuckers, which gives a thicker, fuller and quieter sound than the standard instrument and makes the guitar better suited to distortion. A matching Stratocaster and Jaguar were offered in the same series, and the Blacktop instruments were positioned as affordable, modern-flavoured versions of the classic shapes, aimed at players in rock and metal who wanted a Fender outline without the traditional pickup arrangement.
