My Guitar Notes

Gibson Citation

The Gibson Citation is a large archtop electric guitar introduced at the end of the 1960s as the most elaborate instrument in the company's range. It is built with a carved spruce top and figured maple back and sides, extensive binding and gold-plated hardware, an ornate tailpiece and inlays, and it carries two humbucking pickups with the usual control arrangement. It was produced in very small numbers and at a high price, making it one of the most expensive and least common production Gibsons, and it is now a collectors' instrument rather than a working guitar.
