Gibson Country Western

The Gibson Country Western is a square-shouldered flat-top acoustic guitar, a version of the company's dreadnought design finished in natural or blonde wood and sold with a different name and trim from its stablemates. It appeared in the 1950s as a companion to the Southern Jumbo, sharing that instrument's body shape and bracing but with plainer decoration and a natural finish, and it was offered with or without a pickup. Guitars of this kind are used for singing accompaniment and for country and folk playing, where the large square-shouldered body gives a full, warm, evenly balanced sound.
