Gibson Dark Fire

The Gibson Dark Fire is a version of the company's Robot Guitar, a self-tuning instrument introduced at the end of the 2000s. It carries motorised tuning machines and a control system that can tune the strings to standard pitch or to a number of preset alternative tunings at the push of a button, together with a set of pickups with a digital interface and a finish that changes colour with the light. The technology was intended to remove the need for retuning by hand between songs, and instruments of this kind represent one of the more ambitious attempts to modernise the electric guitar.
