Gibson EB-3
The Gibson EB-3 is an electric bass Gibson produced from the early 1960s, the two-pickup version of the EB series. It has a short scale length, a humbucking pickup at the neck and a second pickup at the bridge, together with a rotary switch that engages a choke circuit, which cuts the low frequencies and produces a thin, nasal and distinctly honky tone. That voice became part of the sound of several British rock bands in the late 1960s and 1970s, and the bass is remembered both for its full neck-pickup sound and for the peculiar character of that filtered setting.
