Gibson EB-0
The Gibson EB-0 is an electric bass introduced in 1959, the first four-string bass Gibson offered. The earliest examples were built in the shape of the company's single-cutaway electric guitars, and the model was later redrawn to use the symmetrical double-cutaway outline associated with the SG, with a short scale length and a single humbucking pickup in the neck position. That pickup position and the short scale give a deep, round and somewhat indistinct sound, and the bass was used widely in rock and blues before falling out of favour, and it has since been reissued.
