Gibson ES-150

The Gibson ES-150 is the electric guitar that established the amplified guitar as a serious instrument, introduced in the middle of the 1930s. It pairs an archtop acoustic body with a bar-type magnetic pickup, an arrangement that allowed the guitar to be heard in a dance band, and its combination of a carved top and a single pickup produced a warm, strong and immediately recognisable tone. It is closely associated with the jazz playing of the period, and it is one of the most historically important instruments in Gibson's catalogue.
