Gibson Grabber
The Gibson Grabber is an electric bass introduced in 1973 and one of the company's more distinctive designs. Its body is a bolt-on solid slab with a large pickguard, and its most unusual feature is a single humbucking pickup mounted on a sliding track, which allows the player to move it between the neck and bridge positions to change the tone continuously rather than selecting between fixed pickups. That arrangement gives a wide range from a full, round sound to a bright, nasal one, and the instrument is used in rock and is collected as one of Gibson's engineering experiments of the period.
