Gibson Les Paul 54 Custom
The Gibson Les Paul 54 Custom is a reissue of the 1954 version of the Les Paul Custom. It has a mahogany body with a carved top finished in black, gold-plated hardware and an ebony fretboard with block inlays, and the pickup arrangement of the original: a P-90 single coil at the bridge and a different, somewhat larger single-coil pickup at the neck, with the earliest examples using a combined bridge and tailpiece. Instruments of this kind reproduce the specification of the Custom as it was before humbucking pickups were introduced, and they carry the weight and dark, rich tone associated with the model.
