Gibson Les Paul Custom
The Gibson Les Paul Custom is the most decorated version of the single-cutaway solid-body guitar, introduced in 1954 as the top of the range. It is finished in black or white, carries gold-plated hardware, a bound body and neck with an ebony fretboard and block inlays, and a carved mahogany top, and it has normally been built with two humbucking pickups since the late 1950s, though the earliest examples used single coils. Its darker, fuller and somewhat smoother tone, combined with its weight and its visual formality, has made it a favourite in jazz, blues and hard rock alike, and it remains in production.
