Gibson The Paul

The Paul is a version of the single-cutaway solid-body guitar Gibson produced at the end of the 1970s and into the 1980s. It is named after Les Paul, and it is built as a plain, functional instrument: a solid mahogany body without the carved maple cap and without binding, a rosewood fretboard with dot markers, and two humbucking pickups with the conventional controls. It was made in several forms and finishes, including versions in walnut, and it is remembered as an inexpensive route to a Les Paul-shaped guitar made by Gibson itself.
