Ibanez JEM
The Ibanez JEM is the signature electric guitar designed with Steve Vai and introduced in the late 1980s. It is a superstrat built around the requirements of his playing: a body with a monkey grip cut through the upper section so the instrument can be lifted and held in unusual positions, a deeply scalloped lower horn for access to the highest frets, a locking vibrato bridge, high-output pickups, and a fretboard inlaid with a vine pattern that runs from the nut to the end of the neck. The JEM has been produced in many versions, from Japanese flagship models to cheaper instruments in the company's other ranges.
