Kay K-161 ThinTwin
The Kay K-161 Thin Twin is an amplifier made by Kay, the American company that built budget guitars, basses and amplifiers in Chicago from the 1930s onwards and sold them through catalogue retailers. The Thin Twin is a small valve combo of modest power, built into a compact cabinet with a single speaker and a simple control layout, and it was intended as a cheap practice and student amplifier to accompany the firm's instruments. Amplifiers of this kind are collected today as examples of the mid-century American budget market, and they are used for recording at low volume.
