La Leona
La Leona is the name of a celebrated Spanish guitar built in the middle of the nineteenth century by Antonio de Torres, the maker whose work established the proportions and construction of the modern classical guitar. It is a small instrument by modern standards, with a body of the size and shape that Torres settled on, a fan-braced spruce top and a lightly built structure, and it is known both for its sound and for its place in the history of the instrument. Guitars such as this one are studied by makers and players as the origin of the design still used for classical guitars today.
