Marshall 1959

The Marshall 1959 is the model number of the Super Lead, the hundred-watt valve amplifier head Marshall introduced in the mid 1960s. It has two channels with separate volume controls, which players often linked to push both at once, a tone section working across both, and a valve preamp and output section that distorts richly when the amplifier is turned up. Its loud, aggressive and harmonically complex sound made it the standard amplifier of late 1960s rock, and it has been reissued in several forms as the Plexi period of Marshall's production has been revisited.
